Messages from Friends
I wanted to post to the group that our beloved Jeff Mayhem Thompson
was laid to rest in Newport, Arkansas yesterday. He was surrounded
by those that loved and cared for him. We really appreciated all
of his Texas family for coming down to be with us in this time
of grieve. I wanted to shake everyone's hand ,but know that I missed
quite a few of you.
Words can not express the feelings of Love that you have showed
in your comments, cards, phone calls. It let's us know that Jeff
life was full of love of his fellow man and paid the ultimate sacrifice
to save others. Mr. Hilton Jackson said it best yesterday that
he gave the only life he had for the love of others.
Amazing Grace was played on the bagpipes by the Rogues and those
who came to be with us stood up for the song to show their support
of Jeff.
He will always be remembered as a gentle soul and having compassion
for people. He was the kind of person all of us should try to be.
He and I were only 5 years apart in age and so he was more like
a Brother than my Nephew.
God Bless all of you.
Kenny Thompson
...he has been a sort of "landmark" at Scarborough
for us. We just expect to see him there. He was always very kind
to us and he will be missed. - Bobbie Jean King
Or as my wife just said, let's not be sad. Jeff's already two
cases into his Heavenly Guinness. - Daniel Penz
I remember that gentle giant lifting my Sanger up onto his shoulders
like a feather during a Scottish Rogues show at TRF when the Clan
MacClugh was running fierce. Sanger could not see and so, Mayhem,
taking the utmost care to not break or scare her lifted her up
giving her a prime spot to see and he had the brightest grin and
so did she. I am thankful - Warring
Oh, Lady, take this grief from me! Gentle souls touch your life
and leave their mark, however brief the encounter. Such was the
soul of Jeff Thompson .... Mayhem. You will be missed by those
of us left behind as your journey continues. - Joni Jackson
Rarely does one have the privilege to meet someone who is so
genuine and caring of others.
He was a true knight.- Bill and Heather Hohmann
He was one of the kindest, gentlest people I have ever met. His
size belied his personality and he was a wonderful person. We will
miss his beautiful smile, but we will never forget him. The world
was better with him in it, but now Heaven is a little better! -
Linda Bellamy
We are all better of having known him, and Heaven is a better
place now with him in it! I guess they need Hero's up there too,
and they wanted the best! - Linda
I had such a good time playing with Mayhem at Scarborough last
spring. He was a gentle giant, and I am partial to giants..........;)
May his spirit fly free. - Shannon
Mayhem was a kind, wonderful man, and I will always hold it as
an honor in my heart to have known him. - Sami Angel
Jeff will be missed by all, like I said before, my dad, Gary...aka...Uncle
Hamish, wanted me to let everyone know that his heart goes out
to Jeff and his family. I don't know what else to say other than,
the world just lost a hero. - Cody Rhodes
Mayhem-I always called him the "Gentle Giant". Me and
my family will miss him more than words. My God bless him and his
family and may the memory of Mayhem live in each heart that he
touched forever. - Mistylynes
Mayhem will be missed much in the years to come. Think always
upon the joy he brought into our lives and that he left us doing
what he loves to do. Our family is dedicating this year's Scarborough
Faire to him. Blessed be! - Kitty Rogue and Family
Jeff was a good friend and a gentle soul. While I am heartbroken
at the loss of him, I am not surprised at the details of his death.
All who knew Jeff knew that he would have given his life to protect
a friend. I'm just so angry that it had to come to this. He was
a hero in our eyes long before he became one to the world. - Suzanne
He will be missed and I am sure he was doing his job protecting
the band as he will now be protecting the gates of heaven. - Homer "Wally" Wallace
I know that no words can bring back his beautiful soul and his
charming smile. But we will miss him so much. - Barbara, Lisa,
Donna, Shawn aka The Fly Girls
Mayhem... Jeff... was a kind, gentle, honorable man. He went
out of this world protecting someone who was injured. It was entirely
characteristic of him. I am happy to have known him. He will be
missed. - Vickita
Always the good ones. RIP sweet, gentle, giant. Karen --- Brandy
