Virginia Renaissance Festival First Weekend - Fun in the Mud

The Rogues just completed the opening weekend of the Virginia Renaissance Festival with fun in the mud!  The weather was great on the weekend, but with all the rain before the festival it made things a little messy, but everyone made adjustments and we still had a great weekend.  Thanks to the very dedicated staff who lost lots of sleep to make sure that all the vendors and entertainers were taken care of.  It was great seeing friends from last year and seeing fresh faces in the audience to join the ranks of Clan Rogue.
Jimmy Mitchell made the trip up from Texas on pipes, along with Ewan and Randy.  We were assisted by Meaghan Deakins Fuller on the bodhran and djembe, who was filling in for Mark Sullivan, and she did a fantastic job.  You'll be seeing her again on weekend 4 of the festival.

This coming weekend, May 14-15, we'll once again have Mark, along with Randy, Ewan and Kyle. Mark will be debuting his new toy, a BIG pipe band-style tenor drum, so looking forward to that.

Our show times for this weekend have changed:

We have confirmed our Lake Anna Winery show on Saturday night, June 4th after the festival so you can stick around after the renaissance festival or come down specifically to see the concert and enjoy great local wine and music.  More information on that coming soon.

Hope to see you this weekend!

Return to the Virginia Renaissance Festival

The Rogues are excited to be returning to the Virginia Renaissance Festival for their second year and all five weekends! Located on the beautiful grounds of the Lake Anna Winery in Spotsylvania, the Virginia Renaissance festival is a lovely little village.  Our debut last year was a great experience performing for the last two weekends and getting to know the cast and crew of this young but growing festival.

Jimmy Mitchell is coming all the way up from Texas on the first weekend May 7-8, and we'll be joined by Doug Frobese from Texas as well for the 4th weekend May 28-29.  Randy, Ewan, Kyle and Mark will be holding down the fort, and we'll be joined by a couple guest drummers during the run when Mark can't be there.  Look for Meaghan Deakins Fuller, who you may know from dancing with Wine and Alchemy, but this time on drums weeks 1 and 4, and Adam Wyatt, the front man from the Shamrogues on bodhran week 3.

Look for the band on The Rose stage during faire days, and our opening weekend showtimes are 10:30, 12:00, 1:30 and 3:30.  Come on down and please help us spread the word about this great festival.  For more information and tickets go to

The Rogues are also hoping to perform a concert event on Saturday night June 4th at the winery itself, which would be open to anyone, so you can come on down and enjoy great local wine along with your favorite Rogues tunes.  The festival may even do a package deal for the last weekend including tickets to the festival and the evening concert. We'll have more information on that as it happens.
