Connecticut Renaissance Festival Fall Show

Next on the schedule for The Rogues is October 29-30 at the Connecticut Renaissance Festival Fall Show. This will be our second time to appear at the fall faire. We've also enjoyed a couple of previous appearances at the Connecticut Renaissance Festival Spring show.

Located in North Haven, CT it's close enough for our MD/DC/VA/PA friends to get to. Tickets for adults are only $15.

Just prior to 6:00 pm on Saturday the 29th, the festival begins to transition into a haunted village filled with photo-happy zombies, costume contests for kids and adults, safe trick or treat, jack o’ lanterns, moonlight shopping, mulled cider, pumpkin pie, zombie dance, zombie archery range, and it all wraps up with the main event – a haunted joust to the death.  And all this is included in the normal priced admission.  Come spend your Halloween with The Rogues and get great music and your Halloween party in one stop!

The Rogues Rock Colorado

The Rogues were honored to be selected as one of the bands featured at the 40th Long's Peak Scottish Irish Festival in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado.

From September 9-11 The Rogues shared the Rock Tent with Celtic favorites Albannach and Enter the Haggis.  We've known and worked with both groups for years and it's always great to share a stage with friends.

The line-up for the band featured Jimmy and Doug on pipes and Mark and Randy on percussion. Cherry handled the sales table and thanks to Pam Hoskins for braving days on the road with us to take pictures and video.  If you've never been to Estes Park - it's gorgeous!  The festival is huge and featured an Irish dancing Feis and even full contact jousting.  We were lucky to be joined by some of the Irish dancers on Sunday in both our shows and that doubled the energy.

On a humorous note, as is typical, it's not a Rogues trip unless something goes wrong mechanically. While stopped at a rest stop in Kansas, Randy walked to the back of the van and noticed the entire left rear reflector had blown off somewhere during the night.  The next stop was a Dodge dealer in Denver before arriving in Estes Park.  And then there was the AC leaking inside the van, but that also has been resolved without much trouble.  All in all it was a great trip and we got to perform for a brand new audience and add to the extended Rogues family.  Thanks to Peggy Young and her family for having us at their very special event and we hope to be back in the future.  For more information about the Long's Peak Scottish Irish Festival visit http://www.scotfest.com/

Long's Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival

Next on the calendar of events for The Rogues will be the Long's Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado September 8-11. It's the festival's 40th anniversary and we are honored to be chosen to play such a special event for our first appearance.

If you've never been to Colorado or Estes Park the scenery alone would be worth the trip, but add to that the amazing line-up of bands including The Tannahill Weavers, Enter the Haggis, Albannach and others, and you have an unforgettable event. On pipes for the band will be Jimmy Mitchell and Doug Frobese along with Randy Wothke and Mark Sullivan on percussion. The band has daily sets as well as an evening performing Saturday night, all on the Rock Tent Stage. We hope to see you there for this special event.

VARF Wrap Up Onward to Montana!

The Rogues recently completed our first full run at the Virginia Renaissance Festival at the beautiful Lake Anna Winery in Spotsylvania, VA.  Thanks to anyone who came out to the show to see us.  It was great seeing you again, as well as working with the VARF staff and cast again.  The weather was unusual with 3 weekends of rainy, chilly weather followed by steamy, sunburning heat for the last two weekends, but we all survived, and even performed a concert on the last Saturday night at the Lake Anna Winery which became an unofficial cast party.  Brad Howard, aka Fletcher Moone of the Pyrates Royale, emceed the event and did a fantastic job.

We had two guest drummers filling in during the run for Mark who could only be there 2 of the weekends -  Adam Wyatt of the Shamrogues and Meaghan Deakins Fuller.  Thanks to them for helping out, and thanks to the festival for having us back this year and we're hoping to be performing in future years at the Virginia Renaissance Festival.

Look for The Rogues next in Miles City, Montana on June 24-25.   We're headlining the Miles City Caledonian Summer Highland Gathering held in Pumping Plant Park, 67 Water Plant Road, Miles City.  It's a free show, and the first time we've been there since 2000 when we performed at the Miles City Scottish Games.  Friday night the 24th is a pub crawl and the 25th is the event itself, featuring Scottish sporting events and an evening concert.  Everything Saturday kicks off at 1:00.  If you're anywhere near Montana come check it out.  More info at https://www.facebook.com/Miles-City-Caledonian-Dancers-Pipe-Band-130949556972238/?fref=ts  Hope to see you there!

VARF Final Weekend and Evening Concert

We are sad to be heading into the final weekend of the Virginia Renaissance Festival. It's been an interesting season weather-wise but we've still had a terrific time. This weekend is looking like it's going to be great weather so come on out to the faire and catch a Rogues show or two, take home a CD and see some of the other talented entertainers who will be performing including the not to be missed Pyrates Royale Reunion! Check out our Facebook event for more information.

Our line-up this week is Mark Sullivan, Kyle Grasty, Ewan Brown and Randy Wothke.

After a long day at the faire what would be better than chilling out at a winery and watching your favorite band of Rogues? You can do exactly that this Saturday! The Rogues will be performing at the Lake Anna Winery starting at 7pm. Come celebrate the end of a terrific festival run with us. Bring your dancing shoes and your goblet and join us for two hours of music and merriment. The event will be emceed by the wonderful Brad Howard (Capt'n Fletcher T. Moone of Pyrates Royal fame)! Tickets are only $10 at the door. Open ages show so children under 18 are free!

Virginia Renaissance Festival First Weekend - Fun in the Mud

The Rogues just completed the opening weekend of the Virginia Renaissance Festival with fun in the mud!  The weather was great on the weekend, but with all the rain before the festival it made things a little messy, but everyone made adjustments and we still had a great weekend.  Thanks to the very dedicated staff who lost lots of sleep to make sure that all the vendors and entertainers were taken care of.  It was great seeing friends from last year and seeing fresh faces in the audience to join the ranks of Clan Rogue.
Jimmy Mitchell made the trip up from Texas on pipes, along with Ewan and Randy.  We were assisted by Meaghan Deakins Fuller on the bodhran and djembe, who was filling in for Mark Sullivan, and she did a fantastic job.  You'll be seeing her again on weekend 4 of the festival.

This coming weekend, May 14-15, we'll once again have Mark, along with Randy, Ewan and Kyle. Mark will be debuting his new toy, a BIG pipe band-style tenor drum, so looking forward to that.

Our show times for this weekend have changed:
Rose Stage:
11am
1pm
2pm
3:30pm

We have confirmed our Lake Anna Winery show on Saturday night, June 4th after the festival so you can stick around after the renaissance festival or come down specifically to see the concert and enjoy great local wine and music.  More information on that coming soon.

Hope to see you this weekend!

Return to the Virginia Renaissance Festival

The Rogues are excited to be returning to the Virginia Renaissance Festival for their second year and all five weekends! Located on the beautiful grounds of the Lake Anna Winery in Spotsylvania, the Virginia Renaissance festival is a lovely little village.  Our debut last year was a great experience performing for the last two weekends and getting to know the cast and crew of this young but growing festival.

Jimmy Mitchell is coming all the way up from Texas on the first weekend May 7-8, and we'll be joined by Doug Frobese from Texas as well for the 4th weekend May 28-29.  Randy, Ewan, Kyle and Mark will be holding down the fort, and we'll be joined by a couple guest drummers during the run when Mark can't be there.  Look for Meaghan Deakins Fuller, who you may know from dancing with Wine and Alchemy, but this time on drums weeks 1 and 4, and Adam Wyatt, the front man from the Shamrogues on bodhran week 3.

Look for the band on The Rose stage during faire days, and our opening weekend showtimes are 10:30, 12:00, 1:30 and 3:30.  Come on down and please help us spread the word about this great festival.  For more information and tickets go to http://www.varf.org/

The Rogues are also hoping to perform a concert event on Saturday night June 4th at the winery itself, which would be open to anyone, so you can come on down and enjoy great local wine along with your favorite Rogues tunes.  The festival may even do a package deal for the last weekend including tickets to the festival and the evening concert. We'll have more information on that as it happens.
